Here it is! “The CrossYoga Manual- Learning the Postures” where you, with your own words, can write down all you need to remember about the yoga postures! Who knows better what you need to remember, than you and your body.
“The CrossYoga Manual” differs from most yoga-posture books as it doesn’t contain any written instructions as to what you need to learn. The idea is that you remember better if you write down what you learn in your own words - instead of trying to memorise the words of others. The process will be harder, but it will make you a better instructor!
If you are reading this manual on your own, you can get guidance by purchasing our online “Learning Yoga Postures” mini-training course. This is a series of vide- os where you’ll be able to participate while on the mat, and learn all the topics in the “Posture Analysis.”
When doing “Posture Analysis” there are six topics to focus on in each pose. These are:
Learn what the postures look like
Learn the anatomical purpose of the pose: what are you stretching and/or strengthening in the body?
Learn how to get in and out of the pose
Learn how to teach proper alignments
Learn variations of the poses: both more accessible and more advanced versions
Learn the “basic verbal cues”
The illustrations used in this book show you one approach. The hope is that you’ll find that there is no need to show off, and make postures inaccessible. CrossYoga is inspired by science and functional anatomy rather than sticking to one tradition or lineage. “The Cross Yoga Manual” can easily be used without the first part, the book, called “Learning CrossYoga.”
